Sweet Home Alabama

On Saturday night Chris, Bri, DK and I were at a bar on Orcas Island. We met a nice young man who was visiting his folks who live on the island. He was from Birmingham, Alabama. My husband lived in Alabama for about 10 years. We invited him to sit down with us and have a drink. We asked him how he liked the island and here's what he said (all in a southern accent).

"I can't believe how many deer there are up here. I took one look around and the first thing I thought was: We'll never have to go to the grocery store again!"

"The deer up here are so tame. They come up and eat right out of your hand. At home if a deer got that close to you, you'd try and stab it!"

Wow!

Silly Southerners.

I just got off the phone with someone in North Carolina who said something funny - about getting someone to do something they said they would do but haven't.

Have you ever heard the expression "I'm going to jerk a knot in his tail"?

Only in prison.

Well, you wouldn't have been in prison if you'd just leave the deer alone.

I prefer the taste of elk to venison personally.
